Personal
I was raised in a small town in Wyoming, and I am the youngest of six children. My parents taught us the value of hard work, education, and service to others. Regularly, we were told we were to be "independent, contributing members of society." Carl Bangerter and I met at college and have been married 17 years. We have three girls, Brittany (16), Shelly (13), and Sydney (11). Carl and I moved to Montana 15 years ago. The dental laboratory Carl works for relocated the entire business to Helena in July of 2008.
Education
I graduated from Lander Valley High School in 1992 with a 4.0 GPA. I graduated from Central Wyoming College in 1994 with an Associate Degree in General Studies and a 4.0 GPA. In 2009, I graduated from University of Montana-Helena College of Technology with a certificate in Medical Office Technology. I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and had a 4.0 GPA.
Employment
Currently, I am employed by Last Chance Tours and get to drive the Historic Helena Tour Train throughout our beautiful capital city. This is a wonderful job and I have enjoyed meeting so many people. During the off-season, I occasionally get to the drive the Trolley for special events and tours. Earning my CDL was a fun accomplishment. There is nothing like sitting behind the wheel of a 45-passenger charter bus and making tight, right-hand turns at busy intersections!
Last year I was a tutor at the UM-Helena Access Center, specializing in Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, and Math.
Activites and Interests
I have served in many volunteer positions in my church and in the schools. I was also a volunteer swim instructor at the YMCA in Billings for five years and received the Volunteer of the Year Award. I was a Student Senator at UM-Helena during the 2008-2009 school year. Currently I am serving on the Chamber of Commerce's Convention and Visitors Bureau Committee and am the New Member Development Officer for the American Academy of Professional Coders.
I enjoy water skiing, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, snow skiing, and running. I am an adrenalin junky and would love to one day go parachuting or bungee jumping.
